Hi All,

I'm very new to ProxMox but looking forward to diving it. I've created the install USB and booted ProxMox.

Before I get to the EULA screen, I get lots of text and the machine reboots itself after putting the following message on the screen:

"Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to load Intel firmware file intel/ibt-17-16-1.sfi (-2)"

Not sure what I should do from here.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sonny

Hi,

That's a red herring and won't fail the installation.

What are the specs of your systems? CPU, MoBo, GPU, ...?
CPU = i9-9900KF @ 3.6 GHz
MoBo = AORUS Z390 Pro WiFi
GPU = GeForce RTX 3090
Boot drive = 1TB Samsung 870 QVO

Need anything else?

Thanks

Sonny

That series has not much upstream support in the open source nouveau driver included in the kernel, and we obviously cannot ship the proprietary driver in the installer, so it'd figure that that's the core of your problem.

You can try the following:
At the first boot menu of the installer press the e key to edit the installer comand line, go to the line starting with linux and add nomodeset separated with a whitespace from the rest to the end. Then hit CTRL + X to continue boot. An option may also be to add additionally video=simplefb.

Alternatively you can try to install PVE on top of a plain Debian 11 installation:

Mostly, the video part should be directly after nomodeset and fyi, it seems I had a typo in my first reply, so ensure you write nomodeset (not nomodest)

Well, the good news is that after using your suggestion plus swapping in a RX580 video card I was able to get to the installer. I went through the process and the machine rebooted.

On reboot it give a few lines of message before putting up and error and going into a strange power cycle mode.

How can I check the error to work out what's happening?
