Can't connect to web GUI

I've tried to set up proxmox for the entire day but i still cant seem to access the web interface ,
I set up the ip and gateway and dns but when i go to connect to the gui it wont connect
If anybody could help that would be great !

can you ping the Proxmox VE IP? if you could ping it you should access the GUI. if you could ping but can't access GUI can you do a nmap scan to see if port 8006 is open?
