I see this error after upgrading to 6.2-6 at the end of a backup run:

...
INFO: Finished Backup of VM 102 (00:05:48)
INFO: Backup finished at 2020-06-13 02:10:58
ERROR: Backup job failed - Can't call method "type" on an undefined value at /usr/share/perl5/PVE/VZDump.pm line 649.

TASK ERROR: Can't call method "type" on an undefined value at /usr/share/perl5/PVE/VZDump.pm line 649.

any ideas what might cause this?

I had the exact same error last night too on Proxmox 6.2-4

One thing I noticed was that I had an invalid vm listed in my backup job... i.e I have 3 active (100, 102 & 105) VMs listed in my backup job however looking at the summary page it shows 100, 102, 104 &105 as included in the backup job. (selection column)

VM104 I had removed after upgrading proxmox to 6.2-4.

When the job tried to backup the removed VM it failed with the error reported, the other VMs (100, 102) were backed up successfully.
I've edited the backup job to remove 104 and am rerunning now to see if this fixes it!

OK this looks to have been the cause of the "undefined value" error for me.
Full Backup completed successfully after correcting the backup job.!

TASK OK
