I'm currently unable to boot into proxmox (latest 7.3.x) that was installed as a raidz1 following a bios update. I tried various bios settings and the rescue boot option with a live iso but it was unable to find boot disk. Is there a way I can recover the install?

I can mount the zfs pool in debug mode but im not sure what I can do to fix it. I believe it was using systemd-boot

So the physical drives are not recognized at all? Can you see them in the bios/UEFI?

What are those drives? NVMe? SATA?
How are they connected? Onboard? HBA? Some kind of adapter?

Settings in the bios/UEFI, that might have been reset to the defaults after the update:
  • Boot-order (Obvious)
  • CSM/legacy boot on or off (Depends what it was before; try with the opposite what it is now.)
  • Secure boot needs to be off!

All physical drives are recognized (just the rescue boot option cant find boot disk). Root is on 3 sata SSDs, ive tried every combo available in BIOs without any luck. I was able to mount the pool in live cd debug mode but not sure how I can fix it. pve-efiboot-tool status states the drives are configured with uefi but if I set BIOs to UEFI only the drives do not show up on boot options list.

would running proxmox-boot-tool init on the three VFAT partitions help?

I was able to boot into proxmox by making a new live usb, turning off CSM and legacy boot then going into live CD->rescue boot. However I am still unable to boot directly into the SSDs. CSM and legacy boot disabled the drives do not show in boot options list and with them enabled attempting to boot into them will result in a no boot media error. I assume I need to reformat the EFI partitions to fix the issue?

For anyone else whos run into this issue, I was able to fix it by running proxmox-boot-tool reinit then refresh after booting into it through rescue boot in UEFI mode.
