Not sure what I am doing wrong - the Manajaro ISO never boots when UEFI bios is enabled (which i need). Boots fine with SeaBIOS (edit-- hmm installer doesn't complete install with SeaBIOS, i guess Manjaro is cranky?). I have tried SCSI, SATA and IDE for the ISO.

Is there some trick i am missing or is it that the ISO just doesn't work on the proxmox flavor of UEFI?

I had the same error with an windows ISO (Server 2022 Essentials). The ISO was defekt or had outdated uefi certs. With a copy from the oem dvd it worked. Perhaps you have to download it again and verify the checksum.

You can also try to recreate the vm in pve, because the uefi keys where preenrolled. This was my solution in the past.

tried twice, tried different versions (e.g. cinnamon ISO and the KDE plasam ISO, and the DVD is perfect on SeaBIOS).
I will try it on Hyper-V UEFI tomorrow, off to bed now.

Do not tick the "preenroll keys" checkbox when creating the VM. If you do, the UEFI disk will be pre-populated with the installation keys of Microsoft OS and some Linux distros too. If your OS is not included in the list of pre-enrolled keys it won't boot. If the box is uncheked, any OS should boot and populate the UEFI keys with their own during install.
