I am new to this but I can access my to be dumb ap on the IP address that is on the same subnet as my proxmox box.

I can ping my AP but I cant access the GUI for it.

I have also created a bridge for it too but still no luck connecting.

Proxmox: 192.168.1.167

AP: 192.168.1.180

So my actual ethernet is vmbr0 - enp2s0 - 192.168.1.167/24
My AP connected via USB ethernet is vmbr1 - enx307bd2a40b0d - 192.168.1.180/24

Can anyone please help?

So you have two identical networks on two different nics? That's not going to work with default bridges unless you connect all to one bridge, but that is not what you want. Haven't you got a simple switch to connect everything to the switch?

I have a current homerouter connected to a mini pc that my other OpenWRT is connected to. I am wanting to get my OpenWRT AP router to work with the mini PC as I will be moving to another location and as such the original homerouter wont be available.

Should be OpenWRT router be on a completely different subnet? Like 10.10.27.x?

So, why don't you use a switch? Having multiple network cards per PC also solves the problem, but in a much more complicated way.

If you don't have a switch and do p2p (point-to-point) connections, yes. You need disjunct network segments for all of you p2p connections.

Why would I need a switch? It should be a case of settings inside proxmox to be able to access to the OpenWRT AP and then other config settings in the Opensense VM to get it to all work together?

I since my proxmox firewall is off and I cant access the AP, do I need to enable or disable anything else to get access to it?

To connect all devices of the same network with each other, a switch is the easiest method.

So even if they are on a 192.168.1.x or even a 10.10.x.x network they defo require a switch to work correctly?
