I have just installed a fresh Proxmox VE 6. It is installed on a ZFS drive and has been running fine for a couple of weeks. I have then added a samba account for backup reasons. After adding the samba account I can no longer logon with my root account to Proxmox both via Web UI and SSH as well.
I have seen a description on how to reset root password, but it seems to be related to older Proxmox versions.
So my question is, how can I get access to my Proxmox root account again?

Update: The guide I mentioned: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Root_Password_Reset

My idea is to boot a Debian LiveCD and import zpool . Then follow method 2.
Would that be possible? Or is there an easier way?

Figured out that it was even more straigth forward than I had hoped...
Method 1 works just fine.

1. Press 'Esc' at the boot menu
2. press 'e'
3. At the end of the command line simply add init=/bin/bash (the text isn't as described in the link above)
4. Press F10
5 type passwd
6. Type new password
7 Reboot
