You can choose another storage type, like a single disk ZFS raid0, when installing from the PVE ISO.
In case nothing works you could also install a Debian 11 an install PVE on top of that. That allows you to choose any storage type you want: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_11_Bullseye
Awesome will try this tomorrow .. i was actually surprised i ran into an issue ..never had it before in many installs
and yep thank you for the tip on installing bullseye and then proxmox on top .. does it work 100% similar ?

cheers

The installer of cause is different and Debian supports no install to a ZFS pool. But except from that there isn't much different, as PVE is based on Debian 11. And installing the proxmox-ve package will then turn your Debian into a PVE, replacing the kernel and so on.

Had the exact same issue, here. I'm installing PVE7.3-1 from a USB flash drive onto a Dell 3060M with a single 2Tb NVMe and the "create LVs" part of the install gets stuck at 3% for about 30-50 minutes while it ?creates the LVs?. Once this has completed, the installation completes.

Agreed, Sir. I've discovered quite a few posts on the interwebs expressing like-concern over this extended, unexplainable delay. A visible percentage gauge or counter of some sort would help - even if we are not to be told what causes it. Knowing that it's - at least - alive would prevent the "noob" like me from resetting their device out of concern that the install has locked up. I love the overall 7.3 experience, however.

I'm on a brand new computer with a 2Tb nvme disk, which used to work on windows and RaspberryPi3, and I have tested it on the same machine with Ubuntu and CentOS. No issues at all.
Then I tried to install proxmox 8 latest iso, from a brand new usb3 stick. Used balenaEtcher to burn the image. No issues.
I'm stuck at the 3%. This is the 4th time I'm trying to install it.
In one of the tries I cancelled the installation and did a full clean of the partitions with FDISK. Next time I installed it, it complained about partition 3! And it had just been recreated.
Something is really odd, I don't think it is normal to have a NVME on a super fast machine and an USB3 stick all working good stuck for almost 1h in the 3% message.
lvconvert process is what is stuck, I see in the other shell window...
And it seems this is not new, as I've seem messages from Nov/22 - this is Sept/23.
Any help here? BTW, I left it running for 40 min, nothing changed at all.
Thanks.

UPDATE: I left it installing and went to sleep.. 2h later the installation finished and the computer was rebooted, all working.
Go figure why it takes 2h to partition a NVME disk...
