Hey guys
I got this message (TASK ERROR: zfs error: cannot create snapshot 'dados/vm-100-disk-0@snap01': out of space) when I just wanted to take a simple snapshot. The error points to a ZFS storage that is almost full. The problem is that this storage is mounted in a VM with many files inside (800GB) in a production environment, is it possible to resize it without damaging the integrity of the data?

Here is the ZFS Storage

And taking advantage of the momentum, I found a backup section where I can put it in Snapshot mode, and it is saved in the local directory (which is also almost full). What's the difference between using this Backup section (in Snapshot mode) and the Snapshot section?

I know it's a lot of question, but i want to understand how it works. Thanks!

You shouldn't fill a ZFS pool more than 80%. Destroy old snapshots, start a "zpool trim" and make sure discard ia working to free up some space if possible.

Snapshot-mode backups have nothing to do with ZFS snapshots. They create a VZDump backup archive while the VMs keep running as temporarily a QEMU snapshot gets created for creating that backup.

When creating snaoshots via the webUI it will create ZFS snapshots. But keep in mind that snapshots won't count as backups and should only be used in addition to a proper backup strategy.

If that is a production system you should think about having a proper disaster recovery plan and do some more research to understand your storages.
