I added a external 1TB HD to my PBS, I can see the disk, I wiped it and initialized GPT, so far so everthing worked without errors.
Now I tried to make ZFS, but the disk is not shown only the existing internal SSD is shown

I have a similar situation, two internal SSDs and aexternal USB, I could init it as ZFS and use.

What shall l do

Regards
Rainer

To clarify:
I added an external USB HD to my PVE, saw the disk under disks as /dev/sdb, did wipe it, did create GPT Partition table, selected ZFS and selected create ZFS, under other the sdb showed up and I could create a ZFS volume, that I could use for new VMs

I did the same on my PVS, added USB Disk, wiped, set partrtion table GPT, see it under /dev/sdb but can not do the last step create a ZFS Volume is it is not shown under ZFS create ZFS

So can anyone please tell me the difference between PVE and PBS in that special case.

Thank you

Rainer

I know.
I have also problems with usb3 data-adapter and i don't use it any more for backup.
And i have now a ZFS Mirror usb3 sata-adapter setup with two SSD. They lay around now.

I use a PCIe V3.0 x2 6x SATA 3 Extensioncard (SilverStone SST-ECS06) for my PC Mainboard. That work very nice.
