Hey all, new to proxmox and I love it! I have a question though: I want to run a node-exporter instance on my proxmox host. Reason: I want my prometheus instance to "scrape" the node-exporter instance, to collect all kinds of data from the host os/hardware. Now my question: what is the best way to install the node-exporter service on a proxmox host?

Hey @Hannes Laimer , thanks for your reply. That thread however is about installing pve-exporter; which exposes information about VMs, containers, etc. I want to install the node-exporter on the proxmox host itself. Aim is to get hardware/os info from the host into my prometheus instance.
Then just installing it as you would on any other system should work[1].
Note: [2] does also export information about the host system, like storage usage, CPU, RAM, etc.

Thanks; indeed a "normal debian install" worked fine. For future reference, the prometheus-pve exporter does not expose all the stuff a node-exporter exposes.
