Can a snapshot backup be done to a NFS not using LVM2?

I ran a snapshot backup to an NFS running under a VM, and the e-mail I received says it worked, but I thought it should only be sent to an LVM2? The attached file shows some file clean up messages in the log.

That is quite normal for snapshot backup - or do you have any problem?
