I installed and I'm trying the new version 8.

I have a problem, pve for a couple of virtual machines (windows 2019 and windows 10) it reports me a different ram usage than the real one.

In the example the windows 2019 machine

I also installed the agent but nothing changed

The "real" RAM usage is the one displayed in PVE. The virtual machine takes those 14.6 GB of RAM and Windows only shows this used. Most of the RAM is used for caching inside of your Windows machine. For Windows, this memory is "not used" as in "can be used", for the hypervisor (PVE) the ram is used, because it cannot distinguish between those two and therefore it is used.

You may install the ballooning driver, that will report the actual "windows used" space to your PVE. Yet you have to keep in mind that this number is not correct and you're actually using more space.

I had already installed the balloon driver. but Without any effect.

the weird thing is that the memory goes up as soon as i turn on the machine. Even before windows loads....

Something wrong in the bios?

I don't know, it's just that the other windows machine doesn't behave like this... Did I mess up something in the configuration?. They look the same to me. In fact, I created the first machine from scratch and the one that causes the problem is cloned. I just changed the disk images

ballon option enabled in vm memory advanced panel ?

(Note that it's only for reporting what the guest os is seeing, as from hypervisor side, windows reserve all memory at boot, so all memory is used anyway)

yes it is enabled....
I had read this note. but it is useful to have used and unreserved memory as a parameter to manage the resources of the host machine in the best way.
Thank you
