I am searching for a method for bulk download of various LXC templates. Is this feature available? Is there a command line method for accomplishing bulk template downloads?

Thanks!

Hi Mario,

Where do you get so many templates that you want to download them in bulk?

There is one Debian Stable (Jessie) at the moment (Wheezy is LTS, but LTS means the same nothingness than Ubuntu LTS, but that's another discussion), so there is no need for other templates. If you want to use Ubuntu, then you have one "ordinary" Ubuntu and Ubuntu LTS. I hope you're not refering to downloading and providing old, unsupported and unmaintained images.

If you refer to other LXC images for e.g. Arch, RedHat, Susu, Oracle, Asianux, etc. then you have to download them for their own websites and Proxmox cannot provide these images legally and/or automatically.

there ist the pveam commandline tool, you could probably script something together
with the ouptut of:
Code:
pveam available

and
Code:
pveam download <storage> <template>

for documentation look at
Code:
man pveam

Specifically I am referring to the Turn-Key appliances - there are almost 100 of them and I would like to batch download them on several instances of the PVE.

Also, is there a way to periodically keep templates up-to-date? We run a hosting service and this is critical to ensure the newest packages are always installed.

I was thinking something related, a check box on the template section could help to select multiples templates and also work to know which ones are already downloaded.

Just a thought...

Anyway I really appreciate, like and enjoy Proxmox PVE. Thanks for share it!
