Hi,

today I faced this problem during installation of a Ubuntu 10.04.3 KVM VM. I first thought that this was a BIOS or RAID Controller misconfiguration.
I was using latest proxmox-ve-2.6.35 kernel, to have KSM support. When I changed to proxmox-ve-2.6.32, the problem disappeared.
I found several similar thread, but at first glance, no solution yet.

If it is appreciated, I can help debugging, otherwise I'll stick to the 2.6.32 Kernel.

regards

pls post more details.
  • your hardware (mainboard, cpu)
  • post the output of 'pveversion -v' and 'cat /etc/qemu-server/VMID.conf'
  • which Ubuntu ISO do you use, Desktop or Server, amd64 or i386?

It was a ubuntu-10.04.3-server-amd64.iso Image.

Yes, i simply have to boot into the latest 2.6.35 and start the Ubuntu VM.

do you also see this with Debian Squeeze VM?

The Server is not rolled out yet, but I am using it.
I can switch kernels and test it now, if it helps.
Just wait a couple of minutes.

It happened again. What can I do to help?

I am already installing debian squeeze!

edit: debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso seems to run smoothly after installation.

A vanilla ubuntu 10.04.3 does not work..
Windows7 x64 also has problems.

For now I suggest you go for 2.6.32 (upcoming 2.6.32 kernels should have working KSM).

Hello,

Just to confirm that i have the same bug on my platform with the Kernel 2.6.35.

bye

2.6.35 has issues as I confirmed this bug along with CPU/IO on VMDK file format.

hi tom, which 2.6.32 kernel has ksm now? pvetest ? thx macday

we did not release one yet, still internal testing (but works well so far)
