I think I've found a bug in prune simulator. If you perform "day by day", it will mantain some backup that was deleted some days before.
Way to reproduce:
- Backup job: day of week "all days", schedule "00:15"
- Simulation Time Range: End Date "2025-11-07" (you will modify this to simulate the going on), End Time "10:42", Duration "16" weeks
- Keep: last 2, hourly "void", daily 4, weekly 4, monthly 4, yearly 1
Look at the calendar between september and october, it mantein the bakup of 28 sept as "keep-montly 1" and the backup of 30 sept is "removed". Actually this backup was removed at 6 october, becous it switched from "keep daily 4" to "nothing".
Now change the date to 2025-11-08. You will see that backup of 28 sept is "to be removed", and backup of 30 sept is "keep montly 1", but this backup was removed days ago (litterally 1 month ago), so the system does not have it !!!
So my 2 question is:
- is the prune simulator bugged, and you could not use it to see day by day "what sistem is going to prune", or the algo of pruning is someway bugged ?
- what actually will happen in reality? it will mantein the backup of 30 sept, or it will maintain one of 28 sept ?
