i am having issues with a backup-job or hit a bug

Conditions/env:
- pve-manager: 5.1-42 (running version: 5.1-42/724a6cb3)
- Guest VM on proxmox (single host) was backed up, and restored on a different (single box)
- On the old host the VM was deleted after the transfer.
- VM was part of a selected backup-job running daily defined on 'datacenter'- level

Behaviour :
- backup job is somehow still referencing the removed VM
- backups status gives 'failed' , details state for the deleted VM 'unable to find VM'
- checking the backup job config does NOT show the deleted VM anymore in the list.

So it appears when a VM is deleted off a box the reference in a configured backup-job is not updated.

Currently i have edited the backup-job by unticking a VM, and then saving it and then re-ticking it to force an update of it...

But logically if a VM is deleted off a box it should also edit the reference in a backup-job automatically.

Will see if the old VM-reference is flushed after the job has run this night.

Yes, i've observed the here in an very dynamic developercluster.
Please make an Bugreport at https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/

Thanks

Thankyou for confirming this behaviour, i have opened up https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1647

In conjunction with this (i have not looked at this, so only assuming) if you were to have like a backup-job for all VM's placed on a host/node would a/the backup job be updated for the newly introduced VM ?

i would guess this also might be broken as it would use the same routine.

No. The backup is working fine. But i get an errormail with the message that some vm's not exists.
