Hi,

i am using Proxmox over years and it is great system.

In Proxmox 7.0 is BTRFS as technology preview.

Why didn't you provide containsers like with ZFS (files in subvolumes instead of data.raw with ext4 on top)?
Is any technology problem or you will try to implement conteiners it that way?

Best regards,

This will eventually be supported. BTRFS has some quirks we need to deal with. Eg. merely enabling quota support on a btrfs file system causes a small but measurable performance impact, using btrfs send on a subvolume does not include the actual quota limits (so we need to copy this manually on a storage migration...), and deleting a subvolume does not automatically remove its automatically-generated quota-group (so this needs to be cleaned up explicitly... I can understand *why*, but it's *weird*, and if the operation gets terminated in between, it leaks a qgroup...).

Currently the most likely scenario is that the btrfs storage will get an option that quotas should be used, because it's also a file-system-wide option on btrfs (iow. you can't just enable it on a single subvolume, once enabled, all subvols will get an auto-generated qgroup).
