BSOD in Windows 11 with GPU passthorugh & nested virtualisation

I had the same issue. Tracked it down to MSI Afterburner being installed being the cause. On uninstall and reboot the issue went away. Even with overclockes off/reverted to zero the issue remained. While this was occuring, rebooting the win11 vm it would BSOD : VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR. Removing MSI Afterburner fixed this too.

Even if Afterburner was not your issue, uninstall relevant gpu software on vm, hwinfo, hwmonitor etc and see if it goes away (try drivers last?). Thats what I did. I should add that rivatuner seemed to have no effect, only afterburner. On both 4.6.5 and 4.6.6

I had the same issue on an Epyc Gen2 and a Gen3 system. I posted on here and tinkered for so long that I don't know what even resolved it, but it was fine for nearly a year.

I've now migrated my gaming related VMs to a new AM5 server board and the issue started happening again. I was using the same exact Windows 11 VM as before, but it looks like removing MSI Afterburner may have resolved it. I would get crashes during GPU driver installation and anything GPU related. It would also BSOD every 11 minutes. I wanna say that fast startup in Windows and disabling C-States fixed it on the Epyc machines, but I may have removed Afterburner at some point. I've definitely been using Afterburner within the VM for a long time though. Maybe the driver installation needed to happen prior to the Afterburner install or something. Really, really weird.

MSI Afterburner will BSOD my machine since proxmox 7. I can't get it working. I removed this software straight away.
GPU-Z will also do BSOD if the driver isn't setup correctly.
