Boot sequence and boot drives

Hi,
I'm using the latest and greatest Proxmox, 7.1-12
I have a 500GB SSD and a 4 x 18TB HDD in a Lenovo TS140 with 32GB ECC ram.

My intention is to run OMV as my NAS with native access to the HD using pass thorough.
I have configured PCI passthrough by enabling VT-d, the stuff described in https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Pci_passthrough and https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Passthrough_Physical_Disk_to_Virtual_Machine_(VM).

I have uploaded the OMV ISO into Proxmox. Allocated 2 cores and 16GB to OMV.
I will be using SnapRAID and MergerFS. Backups will be on individual 8TB external USB drives.
I may just leave it as a JBOD with no resilience or perhaps just Raid Z, I haven't decided yet.

It boots up fine to the virtual installation media, I set the host name etc in OMV.
I remove the ISO from the boot sequence.

But whatever I do, the VM boots into the virtual installation media.

I don't get it - any one help?

I've deleted and created the VM again, but this time it works. Don't know what the original problem is though.

As long as the GUI shows orange text, the setting is not yet applied. This can take a while and for some settings it requires a shutdown of the VM. Very rarely it does not apply the new setting (when it was running) quickly when the VM is shut down, and I don't know why. The work-around is to change any setting of the VM (while it is still shut down!) and change it back.

Aha, that explains it. I was expecting the change to be near instantaneous.
I've used ESXi run the past and haven't had the need to do any VM work for about 10 years, so ProxMox is sort of familiar, but different enough to trip me up.

I'm having fun now trying to get a PERC310 flashed to IT mode passed through to OMV.
