I am using proxmox for a home server, for entertainment relayed purposes.
It is not for anything to do with my income, so are not looking to spend serious cash on it.
It is older gaming hardware mainly.
Those typical cheap consumer sata SSDs are an issue.
I replaced one about 6 months ago, and now the new one looks like it is failing.
The I/O issues seems to be when swap is needed, so reduced the memory for all VMs for now to get it to play nice.
The machine has 64GB memory 3600X CPU & MSI B450 tomahawk motherboard - older gaming hardware.
I am looking to instead use intel optane nvme 16GB as boot drives.
They are inexpensive, as well as the pcie -> nvme adapters.
Sata SSD prices are going up. I use them for virtual machine & container storage. I have 3 x 500GB already. A RAIDZ1 setup seems smart & replace when one fails.
So intel optane 16Gb nvme - are they suitable for proxmox boot drives?
If so I will probably use two in a mirrored setup.
