Hi,

I am new to Proxmox so please bear with me!

I have an R710 running Proxmox v7.4, running on it I have 3 vm's and 7 containers, two of the VM's are for Windows and Ubuntu. I have tried to add the R710's DVD drive to these VM's and also an external USB DVD, but although the drive shows in the OS these VM's are unable to read from them.

With Windows I can get the internal DVD drive to show, but when I insert a disk Windows does not recognise it, if I restart the VM with the disk in the drive Windows will read the files and folders on it but wont open them.

I have tried to reseat the cables, no change, the external drive works on my Mac, I have reinstalled Proxmox but still the same.

If I plug a screen into the R710 I can see errors appear when I try and access the DVD drives;

blk_update_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector XXXXX. op OXO:(READ) flagsOXO phys_seg 1 prio class 0

The drive was added to the Windows VM by clicking Add CD/DVD Drive -> Use physical CD/DVD drive.

Any help would be appreciated

Regards
James
