best printer server setup with scanning possibility

Hi, I would like to share a few printers between several VMs on the same subnet. I guess printer server would be the easiest way to go right? Any easy tut for setting this up ? Does this allow for printing only (the shared printer thus loosing its scanning capability) or not ? I would like to preserve its scanning option on all VMs. Is this possible?
 
Just SCAN to FTP / SAMBA to a shared storage. Any Network rpinter compatible with VM's operating system should do. I can give you my setup if you like.
