Hi everyone

I would like to build at home a system to handle come service.
The pve will handle 3 principal vm:
PFsense
Treuenas
PBS for offisite pull backup.

The system will have 2 SSD and 4HDD in a hot plug bay.

My idea is to install the vm on the ssd for speed and to use the 4 HDD for mass storage of PBS and Truenas.

My question is:
Is better tu build the raid in PVE and pass a disk to PBS and Truenas so that pve handle the raid or pass-through two disk to each vm and let the vm manage?

Thanks in advance

Are you talking about UGREEN NASync DXP4800 Plus? TrueNAS wants direct access to the discs. You want to pass through the controller, otherwise you're likely going to lose data.

No the system will be a normal PC and the controller is the one of the motherboard.
What I don't know is if truenas direct access is a performace question or can bring data loss.
