Best Guest System to virtualize OPNsense in Proxmox

I will be adding doing some passthrough with PCI devices (Ethernet ports and Thermal agent from the Intel Core i7-10810U CPU)

Should I pick i440fx or q35?

Do I select QEMU agent?

If you're doing PCIe passthrough, you should use the q35 machine type, as i440fx only supports legacy PCI. As for QEMU agent, yes, enable it and install the os-qemu-guest-agent plugin. This provides graceful shutdowns, IP reporting, and better integration with Proxmox.
