Edit: My two 840 evo that run XFS and my vms for year currently have more than 240TB written each, and they still run at full speed without any problem.
Out of curiosity I went looking for the data sheet, but I've noticed you mention both 840 evo and 850 evo above. Do you have both models, or was one of those a typo?
That aside, looking for both data sheets it seems like the Samsung website doesn't have the 840 Evo's one online any more. Various distributors seem to have it though: Samsung 840 Evo data sheet
Weirdly enough, the data sheet for the 840 Evo doesn't seem to mention its expected endurance / TBW / DWPD. So it's not easily possible to tell when such a drive might be getting near it's rated endurance limit, at least not from the data sheet docs.
The 850 Evo data sheet is on the website though, and has endurance listed (as TBW):
120/250GB: 75TBW
500GB/1TB: 150TBW
2TB/4TB: 300 TBW
I'm not sure what size of drives you have, but the move to new ones sounds like it might have been timely.
