I am running Ve7.0-11
I have a ISCSI target (Different machine in environment) I'd like to connect to and be able to backup to the Iscsi , Rebuild my Proxmox, then restore my VM's

OR if this is possible, Move my vm's to the ISCSI storage, Power them off, disconnect the ISCSI storage, rebuild, attach the storage again, and bring the VM's back online, then I could move them back locally

I can do all the moves to ISCSI easy enough....

What steps to I have to take to ensure I can bring them back online once rebuild is complete?

Hey,

Wanna really use iSCSI target as temporary disk storage? In your case, a NFS ou CIFS share is most easy and most sufficient ^^

I don't really use iSCSI, and don't know cases when it's can be dangerous to use.

But the safe process (used by my IT on all type of hypervisors):

- Declares the share of backup target.
- MOunt it, and declares it as a backup storage.
- save your VM.
- Reinstall your Host OS like you want/need
- declares the share used before
- Mount and declares it as a backup storage

If yours save are ntop recongnized, connect to CLI and move to your mounted disk. Check in where yours save are, and move them to the new proxmox storage declaration. Looks like $MOUNTPOINT/dump/. )

But, if iSCSI can be mounted easyly in two differents OS whitout any disk problem, go with it ^^
