Backup storage option if solely used CEPH with Proxmox

Hi, symmcom!
Thanks for sharing your experience. We are using eve4pve-barc for ceph backup purposes!
Can you share your experience with backy2? It installs on host OS?
I actually abandoned backy2 many months ago. It just not a good fit for a large environment in my opinion. It is powerful in it's own right no doubt but few mechanics of backy2 just hard to deal with. After finding out how simple and effective eve4pe-barc was to backup/restore Ceph disk images I measured all backup options against it.
My #1 issue with was not being able to backup multiple VMs at the same time and the use of metadata by backy2. I dont like the idea that entire backups are depended on the metadata. Any corruption to this can cause loss of backups.

Both eve4pve-barc and backy2 can be installed on host node. In our case it is installed on the NFS backup server itself which has access to Ceph cluster.

Benji is a fork of backy2 with alot of enhanced features.

We have had in place for almost a year now and so far it has been really solid. No issues running multiple backups at the same time and the developer has put alot of work into exporting the metadata along with the backup itself. Even if your database is toast, you can still easily restore the backups.

eve4barc looks interesting as well.
