Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding the backup retention settings in the GUI. I am unsure about the result shown here in the preview here.
Is his really how the backups will be pruned based on my setting?
In my understanding (and also suggested by the results of the pbs: https://pbs.proxmox.com/docs/prune-simulator/) "keep-daily" should rather keep the two most recent backups, not some historic. Is this just a front end bug here? We are runnung VE 6.4-14.

Thanks and best regards, Oskar

Hi Fabian,
so my assumption was right. Thank you for the response!

I got two follow up questions:
* Does the "Prune group xxx" button in the Storage->Backups just run a manual pruning od should it change the configuration?
* There is also a "Backup retention" dialog in Datacenter->Storage->actual storage directory. If I set something here this (e.g. keep 7 daily backups) would apply to all the files in the directory, independant of any groups? In other words: If this was the only setting I would end up with 7 backups from yesterday for the 7 first machines in the cluster?

Best regards, Oskar

PBS pruning works completely independent from PVE retention. And the retention of your PVE storage in PVE (Datacenter -> Storage -> YourPBSStorage) is only a fallback and will only be used if you don't setup a retention at you PVEs backup job. As far as I know the PBS pruning job and PVE storage retention should prune the whole datastore (or namespace).
