Hi Everybody.

I run a Proxmox VE 7.2-7 and a backup-server 2.1-1.

On the VM machine, 3 VMs are running on the local-lvm drive (smaller SSD):
  • 100 (pi-hole)
  • 101 (HomeCloud) [Local Samba Server and Nextcloud]
  • 102 (iOBroker)

Furthermore, I have created a second 8TB HDD as a data pool under ZFS and integrated it into the 101 (HomeCloud) via mount.

The classic way, I would say. :)

The three VMs are backed up to the backup server once a week. So far so good. Tests before the "official start-up" with backup and replay worked perfectly.

The days I shot the nextcloud on the 101. No problem, I thought to myself, stay relaxed - you've got a backup.
Yeah - puff cake. Always aborted with error code 255.

When the replay function is triggered, it asks me where this should be done. Of course I then specify local-lvm, as it was in the original.

Now I'm so far that the entire backup (101 from local-lvm AND the mounted data pool) seems to be restored to local-lvm. Which of course fails because the small SSD doesn't have enough space. Hence the error message. I noticed this because I selected the ZFS as the target disk when I tried again and now the restore seems to be going through (it's still working on it at the moment).

Now, on the one hand, I don't want the 101 (HomeCloud) on the large HDD and, on the other hand, it shouldn't fit on it at all. The data pool already occupies the entire 8TB disk alone. How do I tell it to my child, please? So that the 101 should be on the local lvm and the mounted data pool should be on the ZFS drive?! And why is EVERYTHING played back at all? Basically, the restoration of the 101 would have been enough for me.

The configuration of the VM looks like this:

arch: amd64
cores: 2
features: keyctl=1,nesting=1
hostname: HomeCloud
Memory: 8192
mp0: data pool:subvol-101-disk-0,mp=/mnt/data,backup=1,size=9536747M
net0: name=eth0,bridge=vmbr0,firewall=1,gw=192.168.0.1,hwaddr=E2:C8:4E:43:3B:07,ip=192.168.0.248/24,ip6=dhcp,type=veth
onboot: 1
ostype: ubuntu
rootfs: local-lvm:vm-101-disk-0,size=5G
swap: 8192
unprivileged: 1

I look forward to enlightening information from the crowd.

Thanks in advance and very best regards from "The Prasserie".

Unfortunately not possible at all currently. :(
