Thanks,

Seems to be a problem with the disk (Input/output error). What kind of disk (storage/format) is that?

Hi Dietmar, first a huge thanks for your response. The hardware is 5 4tb enterprise hard disks running zfs. When I'm in front of the system, I can send you an image of the drives. This was assembled by me 3 years back and has chugged till now. Is there any way that I can backup this system?

Hi Dietmar,

The installation was done by me using zfspool driver. This is from before the time that proxmox supported zfs and I've not upgraded the system since then.

So today, I've done a system backup using win10 tools onto a network drive. Now the only thing that remains is to know if something like this could work or not. I'm planning on shutting down the Win10 VM, then making another one and then using the backup to try and restore the Win10VM. If that works, and MSFT gives me an activation based on the older Win10Vm, then I'm fine, and then I'll do a complete reinstall and revamp of the Host machine, including a hardware upgrade to the latest proxmox.

Anyone has suggestions or gremlins to avoid?

Hi Dietmar,

The basic system was win8 and it was upgraded to win10 online.

Nope, the basic file system is zfs, but for the Win10 VM, I'm using qcow2 as you can see below:

Hi Dietmar,

I think that I've located the problem to a dead drive. One of the 6 drives is dead... and thus the system is running under duress. I'll try to check it tomorrow morning. Please don't worry about the issues since now a major surgery of the system will ensue!! All the backups are already made so if all goes well, the system will be up and running soon.

Thanks a bunch.
