Good morning, I added a new hard drive last night and went to back everything up to it this morning and keep getting the error about unable to create temporary directory for both VM's and containers. Now looking around people are saying just set the folders to 777 but is there any other way to address this without making a security issue?

Hi, you could try setting the vzdump tmpdir to some other location with sufficient write permissions, as described e.g. here [1].

Thank you for the reply however after some messing about and testing I think I have worked out what is going on. Right now I have hard drives in two iommu groups. One which is group7 has the drive I want proxmox to access all the time, group8 has the drives I want to go to truenas directly. Now when I start truenas it mounts the drives in group8 but puts the one in group7 into read only mode and I am unable to remount it back into read write mode. So I am a bit stumped at the moment how to address this one. Cause even in read only mode group7 can still be seen and I can look at the data on it so proxmox still sees it, I am just not sure how to stop it from doing this or if it's just a groups thing and beyond my control.
