I want to transfer a virtual machine from one proxmox server to another (not a cluster, but servers on the same network), for this I made a backup of the virtual machine, moved it to another server, but when restoring the machine through this backup, I encountered the error "storage 'STORAGE' does not exist (500)."



I understand that in order for the virtual machine to deploy correctly, I need to change the name of the storage (on the server where I restore it is called "storage").
How can I do this?
Also, on the server from where I took the backup, the storage is a Directory, and on the server where I transfer the backup, the storage is LVM.

The option of combining these two servers into one cluster is not suitable for me, since I already have virtual machines deployed on both sides

How can I do this?

you can select the storage to which the disks should be restored to in the dropdown menu of the restore panel. By default the storages from the configuration are used, which does not work when the storage is not present.

Also, on the server from where I took the backup, the storage is a Directory, and on the server where I transfer the backup, the storage is LVM.

Not an issue, the disk image will be written transparently to this new storage.

No need to do that, backup/restore is a valid way to transfer your VMs/CTs.
