Backup failed because of "empty device list"

I'm running Proxmox 3.1 and recently added a new VM with an empty device list. The VM just boots an ISO image (kind of special firewall) and has no local disk attached. This works pretty well but the daily backup complains about an "empty device list". I could remove the VM at all from the backup but it would be nice if the VM config is included in the backup. Or even better the ISO image (and just this one) will be included in the backup too. Is there a way to handle this?

Code:
pveversion -v

No, currently not. Also, I am not really sure if it makes sense to backup iso images.

Hello Dietmar,

just to make sure. I can't backup a VM without a local disc without the error message "empty device list"? I could just a a litte (empty) local disc but I just want to make sure there is no other way.

The possibility to add an ISO to a backup is indeed almost never needed. I was just curious if there's a way.

I currently throw an error, because this is most likely an error, an I want to inform the admin that something is wrong.

Excluding all drives of a particular machine from backup is a nice way to avoid wasting space on backup storage. This way is better than excluding by VM ID because ID doesn't belong to a VM and we can have a situation when a newly created machine is excluded from backup despite the fact we haven't excluded it. Unfortunatelly it produces an error "empty device list" since the new backup was introduced.
