Backup auf SMB Server nur mit wenigen kb/s

Hallo,

Seit rund 1-2 Wochen habe ich große Probleme mit meinen Backup Tasks.
Ich habe zwei geplante Tasks definiert, einmal ein lokales Backup und ein weiteres Backup auf eine externen Storage VM via SMB/CIFS.

Das Lokale Backup läuft ohne Probleme durch, das externe Backup hängt stundenlang bei einer VM.
Die VMs davor wurden problemlos gesichert.

Siehe die letzten Zeilen im angehängten Log.


Die Verbindung via Iperf3 zeigt keine Auffälligkeiten
Hat jemand eine Idee woran das liegen könnte?

Und wieder ist das Problem aufgetreten.

Zudem werden dann immer alle VMs als status unknown angezeigt und es hilft lediglich ein reboot.

Ich hatte auf einem Intel System ein ähnliches Problem, welches nach dem opt-in bzw. Update auf den 5.15 Kernel verschwand.
 
Der Proxmox Host läuft auf einem AMD System, die Storage VM ist jedoch Intel basiert.
Hattest du das Problem seitens des Proxmox Servers, oder des Backup targets?
Ich hatte auf einem Intel System ein ähnliches Problem, welches nach dem opt-in bzw. Update auf den 5.15 Kernel verschwand.
 
Bei mir dauerte das Backup auf ein (schnelles) NFS target ewig, also von der PVE-Seite aus. Eine VM (Server 2019) war nach dem Backup immer tot, musste ich resetten.

Bei AMD Systemen empfiehlt sich das Kernel Upgrade übrigens mehr als bei Intel. Meine Epyc/TR Systeme laufen damit mackenfreier.

Ich habe jetzt sowohl den Primären Proxmox Server, als auch den Proxmox Host, auf dem die Storage VM läuft auf Kernel 5.15 upgraded, leider immer noch das selbe Problem.
 
Das Problem tritt leider auch weiterhin auf und dann hilft leider nurnoch ein reboot des Primären Proxmox Servers
 
Wie schnell können denn große Datenmengen auf den SMB Storage geschrieben werden? Packt er ein paar 10 GB ohne Probleme?
Ist das Backup das einzige, das zu dem Zeitpunkt auf den Share schreibt?

Richtig, der Backupshare läuft in einer VM.

Das ist quasi auch die einzige VM, die auf dem Backup aktuell Server läuft und das System sollte eigentlich mehr als ausreichend für etwas Backup Storage sein.
Verbaut sind zwei 2x2TB HDDs die im RAID 1 laufen.


Ich habe gerade manuell eine einzelne 25GB VM sichern lassen, das lief ohne Probleme mit rund 800-900Mbit/s

Okay interessant...

Ich habe gerade die Storage VM gelöscht und eine VM mit Proxmox Backup Server erstellt.
Wieder ein backup konfiguriert und das Backup steckt auch hier bei der rund 5. VM im Backup fest.


Anbei ein Screenshot der PBS Auslastung.
Das Backup war hier wohlgemerkt noch nicht fertig, sondern hing sich wie gesagt dann bei der 5. VM auf und die Auslastung ging herunter.

Hmm, wie schaut denn das IO Delay auf Backupnode und VM Node aus während der Backups?
Wenn das Backup hängt, sehen sich die Nodes? (Ping)
Funktioniert der Share? Sprich, kannst du ein ls /mnt/pve/<share> machen oder hängt das auch?

Andere Verbindungen über das gleiche Kabel funktionieren?

Du kannst auch ein ps auxwf | grep vzdump machen und den Output hier posten, wenn es so hängt.

Und zu guter letzt, die syslogs durchschauen, ob um diese Zeitpunkte herum irgendwas Interessantes geloggt wird, das auf Probleme mit dem Netz, dem mount des Shares oder sonst irgendwas Kernelbezogenes hinweist.


Tut mir leid, dass ich nicht mit spezifischeren Dingen aufwarten kann.
 
Ich habe die problematische Windows VM mal gelöscht, bisher scheint es zu laufen.

Sollte ich noch etwas rausfinden können, melde ich mich nochmal
