What kind of disk? What did you do exactly? Did you see any error messages? Increasing the size of a virtual disk should not be destructive, in principle.

I increased the disk in a vm with windows server 2016 it worked, I increased the disk in a vm with windows 10, when it went to boot, it said at startup that the boot disk was not present, checking, it did not contain any data. I use this vm for a system that did not contain a backup image.
