Hi Everybody,

i am struggling with adding a physical disk onto one of my vmś. I successfully added the HDD and it is appearing in the vm on the proxmox interface. But when i start the vm the disk will not show up.

I have put them in as scsi and @ moment as ide to see if that makes any difference. It doesnt.

Is there anything else i have to take care of to make this work?

kind regards and thank for you assistance in advance

Hi there,

ok i figured out how it works. The vm needs to be turned off :-)

thanks for help anyway

is that posible if we create two or more partitions in a physical disk and mount it into a VM to become a separate device/drive for each partition? how to do that?

just add the partition (/dev/sdax).

see 'man qm'

If a physical disk is added to a VM is the disk read/write speed affected? I was thinking about a virtual Mythtv backend, that records HD content.

block devices are faster than virtual disk files, so if you want best performance use physical disks (you can also use LVM on top on that).
