I have a network file share that I would like to use to archive old containers and virtual machines. What is the best way to go about this in Proxmox. For example, I have a VM (104) and a container (105) that I would like to archive so I can restore them later if necessary but they don't need to be listed on the server anymore. I looked at using backups for this, but they don't seem like the right approach. Instead, I almost want an archive feature that saves everything, just like a backup but also removes it from the server afterwards, freeing up resources on the server.

Take a backup and then remove the VM? The backup images will still be available in the GUI if you go to the backup storage directly, from there you can always restore them.
