Hi!

Has someone experiences with running Proxmox on a dedicated server at Hetzner (EX51)?

Thanks,
Christian.

I work with someone who has done this in the (distant) past.

They made use of multiple dedicated servers from Hetzner with private networking between them

It was used to run a production system without issue, though YMMV. Getting it installed and setup should be easy though.

Hope this helps,

Jon

Hi!

Thanks,

I have a Proxmox cluster (3 nodes) + Ceph cluster (3 nodes) running fine on Hetzner with no private network. I use tinc in "bridge" mode to make my private network with multicast and it works, including migration. For setting up the Proxmox cluster I followed this guide: http://myatus.com/p/poor-mans-proxmox-cluster/

I am just about setting up something like this. Please what was the spec of the servers and how many VMs did you have on this cluster.

Was it very stable in production?

I have a proxmox 3.x Server more than two years on a single node, a PX60 Server with three Debian Linux VMs in production use (Mailserver, Groupware SOGo, Kivitendo, Webhosting....) with mdadm Software Raid 1. Next Step is to change to Proxmox 4.x and ZFS.
Everything works very stable and fast.
