Hi,

out of curiosity: Has anyone tried running AmigaOS in a proxmox VM? I am aware that people do it under "normal" Qemu. But I am specifically asking about proxmox.

I'd be interested in the config file to make it work.

Thanks

Well, PVE uses "normal QEMU" under the hood, so it *should* work. We try to keep PVE guest OS agnostic, I've seen people run anything from Windows 98 and ReactOS, to Mac OSX, all kinds of BSDs, as well as Solaris and Linux versions that are older than PVE itself. I don't see why it wouldn't, if it has drivers for whatever hardware QEMU emulates, and if it doesn't you can always try filing a bug :)

Apparently, no one has done it so far. So I will have to try, I guess.

The original Amiga had a Motorola 68000 CPU and three custom processors that I am not sure QEMU can emulate. However, the current version of Amiga OS, as I understand, runs on a platform that is called SAM460ex and that is supported by QEMU. So how do I tell QEMU to emulate this? I take it, this can't be done from the GUI.

Thanks

Ah I see, AmigaOS requires PowerPC (so qemu-system-ppc). That is not distributed with PVE at the moment, we only support x86 (and some limited pieces of ARM here and there). You can probably at least get a PPC build if you fiddle around with our QEMU build (https://git.proxmox.com/?p=pve-qemu.git;a=summary), but the management part will not work unless you do a lot of custom patching/scripting.
