AlmaLinux 10 installation in Proxmox VE 8.3.2

Hello Team,

I'm attempting to install the newly released AlmaLinux 10 Minimal Server using the ISO image. I've configured the VM and started it. The OS selection screen appears successfully (screenshot attached), but when I select Install AlmaLinux 10.0 it briefly switches to a prompt and then returns to the selection screen again. This loop continues indefinitely.

I’ve also tried using a CentOS 10 Server ISO and encountered the same issue.

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What CPU do you have on the host? I set my Alma10 VM vcpu to " x86-64-v3 " with AES, UEFI boot, Q35, Virtio-GPU and it boots fine

NOTE: CPU requirements increased for RHEL10, my (2nd) Proxmox host is a Ryzen 9 6900HX and I'm fairly sure the RHEL10 VM would *not* boot on my Qotom Atom C3758 @ 2.20GHz

I am using Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v2 @ 3.00GHz - It should works without any issue right?.

FYI - I tried the deployment using the Version 2 ISO of ALMA 10 and its worked! Not sure what happened there!.

That's not "version 2" of the ISO. It's the Alma Linux distribution for CPUs that support x86_64_v2: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86-64#Microarchitecture_levels
Note that I also don't know what happened there and also don't know anything about Alma Linux.

Looks like Alma recompiled the kernel to work with older arch - convenient

Thankyou I was bashing my head against my desk with rocky , centos and alma trying all sorts of vm settings.. the v2 iso worked!!!

I got this issue today 07-10-2025 and after searchs and using AlmaLinux-10-latest-x86_64_v2-boot.iso (solution provided on this forum) its worked, no more boot issue!

quick google got me here and wow! You have helped me a lot here. I wasnt able to get Alma 10 to go.
I changed
x86-64-v2 to x86-64-v3
SeaBIOS to OVMS (UEFI) boot
i440fx to Q35

now I am installing!
thx again
