Have an inquiry from a customer about backing up his air-gapped PVE hosts. They are asking if others have solved the issue of getting backups stored offsite is this type of environment. Has anyone run into this?

the best way is probably to have a local pbs instance and mount/unmount datastores.
This will get easier once the removable-datastore patch series lands: https://lists.proxmox.com/pipermail/pbs-devel/2024-April/009029.html
Edit: obviously you could also vzdump the vms and then import the .vma files in an offisite pbs instance.
