After VM is created, is Cloud-Init still in use or effect?

I use Cloud Init VM templates to create my VMs. It is working well.

Once the VM is created, I wonder if the Cloud Init still relevant? or can I (should I) delete the Cloud-Init ?
Is the "Regenerate Image" button still relevant after VM is created?
