Hello,

i update my proxmox nodes from v. 7 to 8 and i'm facing a strange issue. My Journalctl is ful of this:

Code:
Feb 13 16:32:28 pve1 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: entered promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:32:28 pve1 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: left promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:32:28 pve1 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: entered promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:32:28 pve1 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: left promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:32:28 pve1 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: entered promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:32:28 pve1 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: left promiscuous mode

The same on second node:
Code:
Feb 13 16:33:41 pve2 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: entered promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:33:41 pve2 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: left promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:33:41 pve2 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: entered promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:33:41 pve2 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: left promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:33:41 pve2 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: entered promiscuous mode
Feb 13 16:33:41 pve2 kernel: qede 0000:3b:00.2 ens1f2: left promiscuous mode

Both interfaces are not in use on my servers. What is wrong and what can I do?

Hi,

Were there any errors or warnings during the upgrade?
Could you please post the output of `pveversion -v` command? and the output of the following:
Code:
cat /etc/network/interfaces

ip a

Hi,
no, it was no network warnings during the upgrade. I had issue only for /etc/issue and /etc/lvm/lvm.conf.

Thank you for the output!

Could you check if the NIC driver has an available update?
What happen if you tried to boot from an old pve-kernel?

I don't use a special driver for NIC's. It's Dell R640 server.

An old pve-kernel is not istalled and I don't have it in the boot option. which version of old pve-kernel should I try?

Could “altname enp59s0f2” for ens1f2 interface be annoying?

You can try proxmox-kernel-6.5.11-7. You can install it using `apt install proxmox-kernel-6.5.11-7-pve` command.

No.

Ok, I installed and started first node with proxmox-kernel-6.5.11-7, unfortunately no success. Dell Firmware for Marvell FastLinQ 41000 series Ethernet is also updated to v. 16.15.08.

Journalctl hat same issue.

I think I've found a solution. The network device names have change from enp59s0f2 to ens1f0.

So I put all config setting from enp* to ens* nic, set bond0 to "ovs_bonds ens1f0 eno3". All enp* network settings was removed from configuration.

After reboot no more issue about promiscuous mode in Syslog. I close this thread as solved.
