Upgraded a r220 server that had Proxmox v7.4 installed to 8.2.
Verified that pve7to8 was all green and then followed the official instructions.
After the packages upgrade, checked the pve7to8 as stated that showed the following:

Bash:
# pve7to8

ATTENTION: Please check the output for detailed information!

So I rebooted. Now during the boot, grub executes then I get a black screen with a blinking cursor.
If I manually select a 5.xx Kernel during the boot process, it successfully boots to a working system.

Hi,

Could you please post the output of `pveversion -v` when you boot from an older PVE-kernel and full output of `pve7to8 --full`?

Notes: The backup storage was recently removed. Behaved exactly the same with it.
I'll leave this server as is. In case you need more diagnostics.

Your server is already on Proxmox VE 8.x version. So you don't want to use pve7to8.

I dont understand. You asked for it. :)
The problem is that the server doesn't boot with the standard kernel. I have to force booting from v5
