I've a Windows 10 VM, been running no issues for over a year. Recently installed the VirtIO Guest Tools and ever since then, every morning my VM is paused. If I try to resume it, it simply powers off. I'm not sure where to even begin searching through logs to try to find out what is happening

Try to disable autosleep and hibernation in then Win-VM.

Wich version do you
Thats the first thing i do when i make a windows VM, so unless the guest tools re-enabled it, they're off. Just confirmed, they're off
Which version are you using? I'm currently using 0.1.271 and haven't ever encountered this issue in previous versions. Stupid question: Are you perhaps doing daily backups in suspend mode?

Before installing, VM worked without issue for over a year

After installing, VM is paused and shuts down when attempting to resume

nope, no backups

no jobs run after hours, its just a VM with Win 10 installed, set to be always on

No interruptions, no shutdowns/reboots/power off unless I manually do it

Nothing at all that would interrupt the VM or pause it in any way shape or form

I should also say, I have a 2nd Win 10 VM that was created using the same ISO that DOES NOT have the guest tools installed. This one remains powered on without issue, so 100% the fault lies with the guest tools

Very strange. To narrow it down, I would first duplicate this VM for testing purposes and observe whether it exhibits the same behavior. Then install a fresh VM and observe it.

Backup your VM, deinstall virtio and take a look. Or backup your working VM, install virtio and verify.
