Complete Proxmox newbie here.
Have installed a VM with OpenMediaVault on Proxmox.
All VMs and Proxmox are installed on same disk.
I have a 14 TB harddisk that I want to use for datastorage and it will serve as the main NAS data disk for OMV.
The current hw only has 16 GB RAM, and a very old 1.3 Ghz CPU. As I understand, ZFS requires a lot of RAM.. I do have another very powerful server lying around, but would prefer to use the small not so noisy and power hungry machine..
Furthermore I would prefer if it was possible to simply take the data harddrive from the server, and place it in another machine and read data directly.
What is the best way to have a NAS setup with OMV under proxmox, and a separate disk for data?
I am willing to change the sw/disk setup completely, eg moving the OMV VM to the data disk and then have the same physical drive for both data and OS, if thats better?
Any advice is appreciated
