Adding VE / Backup Server api error (status=400: client connect error)

When adding existing VE (8.4.14) I get the (api error (status=400: client connect error) also when adding an existing backup server (3.4.7) I get the same error.

The VE is using a LetsEncrypt cert, but I tried a self signed cert as well. The Backup server is using a self signed cert.

I did update the VE and rebooted it before I tried to connect.

Does this require the latest versions of VE?
