heeeey

been playing around with proxmox the last week or so on a pc that i converted to a server while i got my main server up and running.
once i got the main server (hpe dl360p gen8) booted up with proxmox, i created a cluster on one and tried to join, but it keeps telling me "500 error can't connect to ip" or "cant add existing node".

i've looked around on threads for the last 3-4 hours trying everything they say, but nothing seems to be working.

would it be because i have a subscription on one and not the other?

super confused on this, any insight is greatly appreciated!

no that should not be a problem

what exact commands are you running? or what actions do you take on the gui?

also the exact error messages would be helpful

Good morning,

names and IP addresses have to be unique. There are several things that might trigger "can't add existing node":
  1. there is already another node with that name in the cluster
  2. this node has been a member of the cluster in the past. With this same name "pve". In this case you need to clean up carefully before you can re-join it.
  3. you "other" node has the same name = "pve" - which will not work

Please add the output of pvecm status (run on the working node, which is working correctly) and make sure that the hostname resolution (via DNS or /etc/hosts) gives the exakt same IP address on all hosts - for all hosts.

Best regards

i kind of thought that. was trying to figure out how to change the name of the node but it doesnt look like theres an option for it. didnt do much digging on it, wanted to see if maybe i was mistaken from you guys.

if there a command i can run to change the name of the node? or what do i have to do?
