I noticed that I can even signed in as root click on the content button for a datastore that is local but can't for an iscsi drive. Is that a known issue? The options are grayed out when I click on the LVM.

For ISCSI you add your share in the Storagetab. Click on HELP-Button at you server and you will get the information.

Or you mean copy an ISO on PVE? https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pvesm.html#_storage_types

I believe what OP is talking about is how you cannot upload ISO's or templates to an iSCSI target (see screenshot). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you can use the iSCSI drive because zfs-over-iSCSI is not yet supported in Proxmox via FreeNAS. (I have the same question as OP).

Hi,
You can not use iscsi because it is a block device.
A file system is needed to store a iso image.
It has noting to do with FreeNas, it is technology limited.

Wolfgang, why bother having the block device appear in the server view column then? Is it useful to have it appear just to show the extents? It may be nice to have a way to hide it for people like me that will only have 1 or 2 extents.

We display a list of storages because you configured them on your system.
Hiding a storage here would be as counterintuitive hiding as disk from your system because the disk is small.

What I recommend you it to have a look at the "Folder View" in the Combox over the ressource tree, so that you can hide storages, if for instance you are intersted in VMs/Containers.
